Bray Head On the west coast of Valentia Island, Bray Head Tower was briefly converted into lookout post no. 35 for the coast watchers during the Second World War. The tower was built in 1815 at the time of the French invasion and was used as a signal station by the naval authorities until 1920.
For its later use as a lookout post, the tower was given an extended weather protection cover on the west side. During this time, the coast watchers left their signatures on the concrete interior wall. A hundred metres below the tower are the remains of the associated EIRE sign.
