Hags Head Lookout post no. 47 was located next to a Napoleonic watchtower at Hags Head, right on the Cliffs of Moher. Today, only the foundations and a few concrete blocks remain of the building. Most of the concrete blocks have been blown down the cliffs over the last few decades due to severe storms in this area.
From here, the coast watchers had a view as far as the Aran Islands during the Second World War. While observing the coast, they wrote reports on activities at sea and in the air in logbooks. These logbooks are now available to the public on the Irish Defence Forces website militaryarchives.ie.
