Auchrus Point The lookout post no. 54 was located close to Cleggan on Aughrus More hill. Today, only a few concrete fragments remain in the ground. Parts of the tar-coated concrete roof lie under the grass next to the concrete water tank. The building was probably removed to make room for this water tank.
During the Second World War, coast watches reported on activities in the area from here. Their logbooks from this lookout post are now available to the public on the Irish Defence Forces website militaryarchives.ie.
