Fanad Head During the Second World War, an English coastguard station was used as a lookout post with registration number 79 close to Fanad Lighthouse. The building is larger than those erected by the Irish Defence Forces Coast Watching Service. From here, the coast watchers observed the coast during the emergency and wrote daily reports in their logbooks. The logbooks are now available to the public on the Irish Defence Forces website militaryarchives.ie.
As the post was not a building erected by the Coast Watching Service, no light projection was implemented here.
